Getting to Cauterets

Cauterets is just 45 minutes’ drive from Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées airport which is used by RyanAir and Air France and is only 45km from the resort. Toulouse-Blagnac airport is further away (208km) but served by more airlines. The old railway station in Cauterets is no longer in use but the nearest TGV train station at Lourdes is only 32 km away.

The spa town Cauterets is situated in the Gave de Cauterets valley, approx. 30km southwest of Lourdes and surrounded by the mountains of the Hautes-Pyrenees. Best known for its thermal springs, the area is popular in summer for trekking and cycling and for snowsports in winter. The Cirque de Lys ski area is reached by gondola directly from the town and there is also a skibus service to another small ski area at Pont d’Espagne, 8km away. Access to Cauterets is via the Route Nationale D920.

Getting to Cauterets by Rail

The nearest TGV train station is Gare de Lourdes, just 32 km / 40 minutes from Cauterets. The high-speed train service between Paris Montparnasse and Lourdes runs about 4 times per day and the fastest services takes about 4 hours, 45 minutes, although there are slower services as well. Driving to Cauterets

From Paris follow Green route Paris-Limoges-Auch-Les Pyrénées.

From Bordeaux follow A62/E72, A65/E7 to Pau, southeast on A64/E80 to Tarbes, N21 south to Lourdes, D821 to Ayzac-Ost then D913 and D920 to Cauterets.

From Toulouse take A64 / E80 Bayonne-Toulouse motorway, then N21 / D821 towards Lourdes / Ayzac-Ost and D913 / D920 to Cauterets.
