Vaud is situated in French-speaking western part of Switzerland. Vaud is one of the two Swiss cantons which stretch from Jura to the Alps through the three distinct geographic regions of Switzerland
It's the regions in the south east of Vaud which are mountainous, sitting on the north side of the Bernese Alps. This region is commonlyknown as the Vaud Alps. The Diablerets massif, peaking at 3,210 metres (10,531 ft), is the highest mountain and the only glaciated area.
Other mountains such as the Grand Muveran and the Tour d'Aï are visible from most of the region which is home to several popular ski resorts including Villars, Les Diablerets and Leysin.
