By bus from Bariloche to Las Leñas
Travelling around in Argentina is best done by bus. Andesmar.com was the best bus company we found, but there are many in Argentina. It’s like travelling business class without getting off the ground – the seats recline a full 180degrees and cost about £25 for a long 14 hour journey. If you’re used to the organised Alps getting around in Argentina can be frustrating, but after less than a week in the country you get used to waiting for buses, which don’t come at the times on the website, and ordering taxis that come half an hour later.
From Bariloche to Las Leñas there are two alternatives; either via Mendoza which is 6 hours plus 16 hours on two buses and costs £35 or via San Rafael which is 3 hours plus 14 hours on two buses and the same price. Mendoza is a bigger city and famous for wine so many people attempt to stay over night there. The only difficult bit about the trip is the 2 hour wait in between buses and it can be cold. But other than that if you book the time and date right (most people do it on the Saturday from Las Lenas because it is so remote) it is no problem.
