Chamonix Upgrade l'Aiguille du Midi Cable Car17-05-08
Chamonix are to upgrade the l?Aiguille du Midi cable car this summer, as the Mont-Blanc Lift Company look to reduce long queues and improve comfort. The new cabins will be equipped with large windows providing panoramic views, with the eight person capacity in the summer designed to ensure a comfortable ride, whilst the ten person standing capacity in the winter months is aimed at creating a more efficient system.
The central part of the original station is to be preserved, with development focused on the more recent additions. The new building will be the base for the Mont-Blanc Lift Company, with only natural and local materials to be used. There will also be a restaurant and a large bar.
