The New Zealand ski resort of Mount Hutt has received 20 inches of snow over the last week, with the resort now over two weeks into its season. The ski area had to be closed on Sunday due to the weather, though the subsequent snow conditions meant that Ski Area Manager Dave Wilson had no complaints closing the resort for the day.
Mount Hutt isn’t the only resort in the country to be enjoying good snow, with Lake Wanaka and Cardrona also enjoying good snow, whilst Mount Ruapehu has its largest snow base ever at this stage of the season, with five feet of snow. Whakapapa, meanwhile, had been struggling for snow, but the last five days have seen an average of more than 24cm of snow fall on each day, meaning there is now 122cm of snow in the resort.
