New Mexico Ski Industry Growing 03-05-08

New Mexico’s ski industry is continuing to grow following another successful season. More than 716,000 skiers and boarders visited the area during the 2007-08 season, representing a 4 per cent increase on the previous season. Snowfall was particularly good in the state’s northern ski resorts, with up to 300 inches in some areas.

Situated just below Colorado, New Mexico can learn many valuable lessons from its hugely established neighbour, whilst feeding from its success. New Mexico’s mountains are smaller than those in Colorado, but there remains some steep, challenging terrain ideal for advanced skiers looking for less populated ski areas than those offered in Colorado.
