This season has been the snowiest season in Crested Butte?s history with 418 inches to date. The resort closes for the season on Sunday, and surpassed its previous record of 415 inches earlier this week. That record had stood for 28 years, but with snow continuing to fall late in the season, the 17 inches of snow that fell earlier this week ensured the record was broken.
Snowfall has been excellent in the majority of the world?s top ski resorts this season, though with a base depth of over 100 inches, Crested Butte has been able to boast exceptional snowfall. This good snowfall has attracted skiers to the resort, with a significant increase in visitor numbers on the previous year placing this season in the top three seasons of all time.
