Saalbach Hinterglemm: Beginners
Both villages have nursery slopes near their centres, but
Hinterglemm’s, with three babylifts, are better and bigger than its
neighbour’s—and separate from the main slopes. Saalbach’s Turmlift is a
good spot, and the Unterschwarzachlift has some of Hinterglemm’s best
nursery slopes. Beginners with some experience will enjoy many of the
easy blues that abound in the vicinity of most lifts. The run down to
the mid-station from the top of Bernkogel, for example, is wonderfully
wide and gentle. And there are other easy runs from the top of the
Kohlmaiskopf, which flow right back to Saalbach village. To avoid
having to buy an all-mountain lift ticket, it’s possible to buy blocks
of tickets and single tickets at the beginners’ lifts.
