Accommodation

There are 5 distinct areas to consider when looking for accommodation: Dorf is central St Anton, Oberdorf to the west and uphill is between 5-15 minutes walk to and from the village centre and the lifts, Nasserein to the east is about 5-10 minutes level walk to and from St Anton village centre (but with fast gondola access up the mountain) and St Jacob farther east is around 20 minutes walk from Dorf. Farther to the west at the top of the Arlberg Pass and too far to walk is the pretty village of St. Christoph.

It's easy enough in good conditions to drive from one area to another or to use the regular connecting bus service, and while the village centre has obvious attractions for après ski and partying late at night, each of the four quieter surrounding neighbourhoods include good family friendly hotels so it pays to research.

St Anton's village centre is free of traffic and dominated by a number of large four- and five-star hotels. Best known are Hotel Alte Post with its luxurious new health spa and swimming pool, Hotel Post, the Schwarzer Adler and the St. Antonerhof, all offering high standards of food and accommodation in traditional Tirolean style.

Most of the 8,900 tourist beds are in smaller family hotels and traditional guesthouses offering clean and comfortable accommodation, usually on a bed and breakfast basis. Some are located in the centre of the village but many more span the road between St. Anton and the connected hamlets of Nasserein and St. Jacob, which are connected to the main village by a free bus service. While hotels dominate, a few operators manage ski chalets in St Anton.

Nearby in St Christoph are the world-class five-star Arlberg Hospiz (now including a spectacular new spa and wellness centre) and the comfortable four-star Ski & Spa Hotel Maiensee, which are also recommended.
