Ski Guide St Anton - Ski Lifts and Passes

The number of lifts in the table are for St Anton area only, not including Lech and Zurs . Overall, in the Arlberg there are over 80 lifts carrying in excess of 123,000 skiers per hour.

St. Anton's ski lifts, which operate with a hands-free ticket system, open between 8:00–8:30am and run until 4:00–4:30pm.

The centrally located main lifts were improved for the 2001 World Championships with the addition of a number of high-speed covered chairlifts. The old cable car from the centre of St Anton was replaced in 2006 by the impressive new Galzigbahn cable car station and the old funicular train has long since been replaced by a high-speed quad chairlift to Gampen.


An 8-man gondola at Nasserein provides direct access to Gampen and reduces pressure on the main lifts in St. Anton. Although some way from St Anton's nightlife, the new gondola at Nasserein makes it a more convenient place to stay and a peaceful alternative to the busier St Anton village centre. At Gampen a 6-man chair replaced the old double chair to whisk skiers up to Kapall (2,333 m).

More recently (2003/04) the Arlenmahder draglift has been replaced by a 6-man chairlift rising to a new lift station at 2,320 m to the east of the Ulmer Hütte mountain restaurant. This opens up the Arlenmahder slopes and allows easier access over the Valfagehr to Alpe Rauz. On Rendl a 6-man chair has replaced the long Gampberg draglift.

The resorts of Lech-Zurs form part of the main Arlberg ski area and there is an inexpensive regualr bus service linking St Anton - Zurs - Lech. Intermediates will enjoy the White Ring circuit which links Zurs and Lech. It is not possible to ski between St Anton and Lech nor between St Anton and Zurs except for experts skiing Valluga north face and only if accompanied by a registered mountain guide

Stuben is connected to the main St Anton ski area via the long run down from Ulmer Hütte down to Rauz and then ski under the road and on to Stuben which offers superb skiing and abundant good snow on the north facing slopes of Abona then ski back (all on piste) to Rauz to rejoin the main lift sytsem. Also excellent off piste on Abona North Face, Langen and Milchboden itineraries. 

Sonnenkopf is a small family friendly resort, suitable for beginners and intermediates and with some good off piste. The Vermalen run from Glattingrat to the main Sonnenkopfbahn lift station is an 8km 1300m descent. If travelling by car take the “Wald am Arlberg” exit on the Arlberg-Schnellstraße S16 which brings you to the main lift station or you can take the free ski bus service from and back to St Anton.
