The Lake Louise Ski Area is surrounded by the Canadian Rockies and lies approximately 115 miles (184 km) west of Calgary (the nearest international airport), in southern Alberta, Canada. The trip from Calgary to Banff takes 1.5 hours on a 4-lane highway, plus another half-hour to Lake Louise. Despite its railroad heritage there are, sadly, no passenger trains servicing the resort. There is however a regularly scheduled daily bus service to and from the Calgary Airport to both Banff and Lake Louise.
All three resorts are linked by municipal bus services and there are shuttle buses between hotels and resorts. Lake Louise is furthest from Banff, 34 miles (56 km) away or a 45-minute drive (take that into account each way if you are thinking of “commuting” and there is parking at the ski hill itself to consider as well). Sunshine Village is 11 miles (18 km) out of Banff, and Banff Mount Norquay (formerly called Mystic Ridge) is just four miles (6 km) away.
