Whistler Blackcomb off-piste

Approximately 80 percent of the world’s heli-skiing is in British Columbia, and weather conditions permitting, Whistler Heli-Skiing will take you into the backcountry to ski or board four or more drops per day, with each drop giving you access to around 2,500–5,000 vertical feet (762–1,524 m) of untracked powder. Contact Whistler Heli-Skiing on 604-932-4105, toll free on 888-HELISKI or via the website www.whistlerheliskiing.com . For backcountry tours with professional guides contact the Whistler Alpine Guides Bureau or log on to www.whistlerguides.com .
Whistler-Blackcomb has many classic off-piste options. One is to ski out the area boundary from the back off Whistler Mountain in the direction of Black Tusk Mountain, where a few hundred metres descent (though don't be tempted to go too low) and a long traverse takes skiers around the mountain and eventually back into the Whistler Mountain ski area on Highway 86 in the Peak to Creek sector.
From the Flute Bowl the Musical Bumps and Cowboy Ridge offer excellent day touring options.
On Blackcomb Mountain the choice is more limited and more commital than on Whistler. A short hike from the top t-bar (along with the other hundreds of slope users) at the back of Blackcomb Glacier staying high past the 'blowhole' leads to a variety of descents, such as 'Women Only' or over the other side towards 7th Heaven via 'D.O.A' (and yes that does mean Dead On Arrival!). Another option with less poling / walking is to stay high in the 7th Heaven zone and head towards Body Bag Bowl and Disease Ridge – watch for avalanche danger from above.
