There are four main areas: Whistler Village, Upper Village (Blackcomb), Village North, and Whistler Creek. Whistler Village and Upper Village (Blackcomb) centers—about 10 minutes’ walk apart —are most convenient for the slopes with easy access to both Whistler and Blackcomb Mountain lift systems. Whistler Village extends northward for around 0.6 miles (1 km) to Village North, and Whistler Creek (the original Whistler base station) is some 1.8 miles (3 km) away from the main center. Most of the development for the 2010 Winter Olympics is taking place here. In Whistler Village you can stroll through cobblestoned streets in the pedestrian-only village center with its covered walkways, creating a cozy atmosphere, and more than 200 shops, including a selection of well-known North American retail chain favorites.
