Meribel

At the heart of the Trois Vallees, Meribel is smack in the middle of a 600km piste system, offering great access to its neighbouring valleys as well as its own friendly slopes and a range of quality chalets in which to luxuriate at the end of the day.

Méribel can truly claim to be at the heart of one of the world's most impressive lift-linked network of pistes and skiable terrain. Nowhere else can quite match the 370 miles (600 km) and 200 lifts of the Three Valleys for the convenience, breadth and depth of skiing and Méribel sits snugly in the central valley.

Courchevel may be more chic and Val Thorens may have better snow but with Méribel it's all about location, location, location. Without its adjoining neighbours, the ski area is less impressive, but its position means that you can access the tops of the other resorts almost as quick as they can get there themselves.

The chalet style is a perfect example of how a resort should be purpose-built and the piste layout is similarly well conceived, groomed and constantly improved with 60 lifts and 600 snow guns in the Méribel valley alone. For better or worse, the British legacy is still strong, with 19% of all visitors coming from the UK.
