Courmayeur / Intermediate
Skiers who like to cover a lot of terrain will find Courmayeur
slightly limiting for a week. However, the skiing is very pleasant and
you also get a free day in Chamonix on a six-day lift pass. The slopes
of La Thuile are also only a short drive away. That said, the skiing is
excellent for a few days and here more than anywhere is the place to
take long lunches. Virtually all the terrain is intermediate. The
Checrouit reds are all enjoyably different ways down the same flank and
the high runs above Zerotta offer slightly more of a challenge, as do
the lower runs down through the trees. The long and winding red of
Internazionale (18) is the best run on this side of the valley.
Stronger intermediates should not miss the opportunity of skiing the
Vallée Blanche.
