Crans-Montana

The sunniest resort in Switzerland, Crans-Montana is an up market destination with one of the best 360 degree panoramic views in the Alps, from the Matterhorn to Mont Blanc. Crans-Montana offers a good selection of winter sports and summer sports, including a championship 8-hole golf course, and numerous popular events throughout the year.

As few as 30% of winter guests come to Crans-Montana for skiing and boarding, partly because of the wide range of other snow sports on offer including cross-country skiing, ski touring, snow shoeing, ice skating and curling, and because so many guests are property owners who come to enjoy the 63km of paths for walking, to relax in the mountains amid stunning scenery with more than 250 boutiques for retail therapy and over 50 restaurants for dining out among friends.

Apres ski

Although the resort includes over 50 restaurants and a dozen or more bars, there’s no real sense of lively après ski and in this respect Crans-Montana is found wanting, yet it seems not to bother existing clientele – mainly couples and families – who it seems are content, for want of anything better to do, to return to their hotel or apartment and relax before dinner. If the resort is to appeal to younger clientele, an improved après ski on- and off-the mountain would help.
