Engelberg / Accommodation

Most of Engelberg’s 4,300 guest beds are in 24 hotels.

Most hotels in Engelberg are 3-star, with just two 4-star, the Ramada Regina Titlis and the Waldegg, both of which have a wellness spa.

Some of the other big Belle Epoque hotels retain much of their original charm, but many of the rooms have seen better days. The Bellevue has a truly spectacular ballroom in which you breakfast. The range of rooms includes some basic options and it’s conveniently  located opposite the train station; the Schweizerhof has modern rooms and friendly staff; the Europe is probably the grandest but the rooms are a bit tired.

There are also typical alpine hotels in the centre, including the family run Spannort, with a great restaurant and rooms panelled in traditional style. The Engelberg is within the pedestrian area and is known for its good food and traditional style. The Sonnwendhof is close to the train station and has good rooms and food, while 10 minutes from centre is the newly renovated Hotel Hostatt Garni (B&B only).

There are also 9 pensions and 500 apartments, catering mainly to Swiss visitors. If none of this appeals to you, you can build an igloo (under instruction) and spend the night in it, at 1,840m on the Furenalp.
