Grindelwald / Accommodation
The resort has one 5 star hotel, the Grand Regina Alpine Wellfit Hotel. It’s a jacket-and-tie-for-dinner place with a new spa centre. Of the 4 star hotels the Sunstar also has new spa facilities and is a good option close to the First lifts; Hotel Schweizerhof is a chalet style hotel well placed for access to the train; the Bodmi is one of the smaller hotels at this level. There are plenty of 3 stars to choose from, where the decision is mainly one of location – the Hotel Derby is convenient for the railway - but there are charming options further from town centre or the station that make the most of the remarkable setting. The other half of Grindelwald’s 12,000 beds is in holiday apartments and chalets. There are also some excellent budget options, including the creaky old chalet above town whose rooms include doubles and dorms, with the ambience of a mountain refuge but much better facilities, including well equipped kitchens.
Car parking is limited in the centre of town but many hotels have their own private parking area. Once in town it’s easiest to use the regular bus service.
