With 59 hotels and over 4,500 apartment beds, Saas Fee has a total of over 7,500 visitor beds – not bad for what at first glance is a sleepy little backwater. Most visitors are Swiss (42%), followed by German (32%) and just 8% from the UK. Saas Fee’s most prestigious lodging is at the five-star Ferienart Resort and Spa (formerly the Hotel Walliserhof); six four-stars also have spas and there are numerous three-star places. Prices range widely, with crossover between these groupings; a useful tourist office brochure groups the hotels by atmosphere and style rather than price or star rating.Given the linear layout of the village and with all the skiing starting from the southern end, location is an issue, though for eating out and nightlife the entire village is an easy (and enjoyable) walk, unless you’ve really overdone it on the slopes.
