Snowbird
Utah’s claim of having the “Greatest Snow on Earth” is really based only on snow in the Little Cottonwood Canyon where Snowbird is located. Friends and neighbors for 30 years, Snowbird and Alta began offering interchangeable passes in 2001. The Alta Snowbird Pass provides 4,700 acres (1,880 ha) of great skiing in Little Cottonwood Canyon.
At Snowbird you can expect a high level of service in a convenient pedestrian village with all amenities. There’s a limited nightlife and bar scene, which may put some visitors off, as may limited shopping—as there’s no “town” nearby. But if your main reason for coming is fantastic skiing, then look no further. Compared with other resorts Snowbird is not considered expensive, but compared with Salt Lake City hotels it is. About 30 percent of skiers come from the Salt Lake area.
