Stowe
Stowe doesn’t just seem old: it really is, and so too is its skiing. It was first developed as a resort in the first half of the last century, but its infrastructure is considerably newer and includes a quad and a gondola that are bang up to date. The town itself— which probably does more summer than winter business—is six miles (9.6 km) from the skiing and is sufficiently charming to make Stowe one of the few North American snowsport resorts that non-skiers can enjoy as much as skiers.
