The Canyons

At the Canyons you’ll experience blue skies, cool, crisp evenings and awesome powder dumps. Since the resort opened in 1997 there has been great progress and expansion, and now with 8 mountains, 18 lifts and 3,500 acres (1,400 ha) of terrain, the canyons is the largest single ski and snowboard resort in utah.

The Canyons is one of the largest ski and snowboard resorts in the United States. It is very close to Park City Mountain and Deer Valley and in fact you can ski from resort to resort. Note, however, that Deer Valley does not officially permit this, although Park City Mountain does. With recent changes and expansion The Canyons has grown from a small village into a bustling ski resort, although some say that it lacks character. The ski area covers eight mountains with 118 trails to suit all ability levels, but only 14 percent of the ski area is designated for beginners. The season runs from mid-November to early April, with the peak time February to March and low season early December and January. The snow record is impeccable with an almost guaranteed 355 inches (901 cm) of snow per year. Most visitors are from the U.S., but the dynamics are now changing with more visitors coming from elsewhere.
