Steeped in tradition, the Kellerwirt’s team go out of their way to make their guests feel special and Innkeeper Hans Keller – a charming and entertaining host – takes great pride in explaining the Kellerwirt’s historic rooms including the vaulted cellar and wine bar, Farmers’ Room restaurant, Monastery room and Monkey Room.
No perfectly straight walls and no right angles in this out of the ordinary 12th Century Inn but the Kellerwirt’s rooms are pleasantly furnished in Tirolean style with comfy beds, TV and ensuite bathrooms. Single rooms available as well as double rooms with reductions for children sharing a room with both parents.
The Kellerwirt Farmer’s Room restaurant serves delicious Wildschonau specialities including “Tiroler Gröstl”, “Wiener Schnitzel”, “Pressknödel” and “Kaiserschmarren”; also venison and game dishes during the hunting season! Excellent cuisine is accompanied by fine wines, beer and schanpps in the Kellerwirt restaurants and bars along with superb Tirolean ambiance and music ranging from folk to jazz and soul.
Located in the heart of the Wildschönau, Oberau is a quiet picturesque village approximately 5km from Auffach, for lift access to the family-friendly Alpbachtal-Wildschonau ski area (“Ski Jewel”), with more skiing nearby at Nierdau-Wildschonau. About one hour by car from nearest airport Innsbruck.
