The story of Zaini began in a ski resort back in 2010. Miranda was working as a ski instructor in Haute Nendaz, Switzerland, and couldn’t find a suitable beanie that was bright enough or baggy enough for her style – so she made her own.From this one bright and baggy hat people started asking for their own and they became more and more popular as the season went on. Miranda continued crocheting hats for friends, employees and colleagues throughout the season as a bit of fun and to earn some extra cash.
On returning to Scotland Miranda noticed a gap in the market for this style of hat and decided to launch the Zaini ‘brand’ supplying people with new and colourful beanie hats. With the help of her grandmother, Miranda’s crochet skills were greatly improved and eventually perfected in the highlands of Scotland early May 2010 around her kitchen table.
Zaini hats have since been named after Scottish islands, Lochs or famous Scottish landmarks including Mull, Jura, Luing and Lomond where alot of the design inspiration came from. All our hats are designed in Scotland and handmade through the means of crocheting – one hook and lots of yarn!
They are all made with 100% super soft Acrylic which means non-itch and durable to outdoor weather. Perfect for the slopes, après- ski or an urban-chic look. Zaini hats are the ultimate fashion accessory on and off the slopes.
