Isere

Skiing in Isere

Named after the river, Isere dates from the French Revolution and in 1968 was the base for the Winter Olympics.

The dominant resorts in Isere are Les Deux Alpes and Alpes D’ Huez although there are several smaller but equally enjoyable resorts including Chamrousse, Villard de Lans, Autrans, Les 7 Laux, Le Collet d’Allevard, Méaudre, Saint Pierre de Chartreuse, Alpe du Grand Serre and Gresse en Vercors.

With skiing nearly year round on the glacier at Les Deux Alpes, access to the infamous challenges of La Grave and reputation for exciting nightlife, Isere has much to offer.

Isere is easily accessed from Grenaoble airport which claims a 1 1/2 hour transfer but it’s usually best to allow 2.
