The Ski Resorts of New Mexico

Every state in the USA claims it’s uniqueness without shame and New Mexico is no different. “The bluest skies on the continent, the driest powder, and some of the most breathtaking terrain in the world“.

New Mexico is at the southern limit of the Rockies and, as such, at the southern end of the snow. The climate tends toward dry and the snow powdery.  And in common with the other lesser known ski regions in the states, beware the difference between a resort and a day out. Taos is the best known but the other areas are all worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Taos Ski Valley

Taos Ski Valley is one of North America’s great secrets. Steep terrain, abundant sunshine and a unique “desert southwest meets the Tyrol” character makes Taos a must visit for any advanced skier. The resort is in the midst of a renaissance after being purchased by billionaire conservationist Louis Bacon. Bacon has begun the process of updating the resort’s aging infrastructure – the only negative at this world class resort.
