Ski Lifts in Ischgl

Ischgl ski lifts are ultra-convenient and some lifts include an airport-style moving walkway between gondola base stations. Ischgl ski lift passes are available for the Ischgl-Samnaun ski area only, or Ischgl-Samnaun plus Galtür, Kappl & See. For the cheapest price, you’ll need a guest card.

Ischgl Ski Lifts

Ischgl and Samnaun have one of the most well-equipped and well-planned lift systems in the Alps, and money is constantly being invested in further improvements. There are about 45 lifts, with a predominance of fast multi-pack chairs with magic-carpet loading and protective bubble covers.

From Ischgl, three gondolas (two with heated seats) give access to the skiing. One, the Silvrettabahn, is in the centre, the other two, the Pardatschgratbahn and the Fimbabahn, are on the east side – but the two areas of the village are linked by an airport-style moving walkway through a tunnel for ultra-convenience.

The extent of the ski area and its shape encourage skiers to disperse in all directions from the main hub at Idalp. This, plus the speed and carrying capacity of the large chairlifts, keeps lift queues to a minimum, even though Ischgl is a popular resort, particularly at weekends and in the run-up to a Top of The Mountains concert.

Ischgl Ski Lift Passes

In Ischgl you can buy lift passes for either just the Ischgl-Samnaun ski area, or for Ischgl-Samnaun plus Galtür, Kappl & See. For the cheapest price, make sure your accommodation provider gives you a guest card.

The Ischgl lift pass names can be confusing. The VIP Ski Pass, which sounds expensive, is actually the cheapest lift pass. It covers the Ischgl/Samnaun ski area, and up to two days in Galtür as well (but check this before purchasing). You can only buy the VIP lift pass if you have an Ischgl guest card, which will be given to you by your hotel or other accommodation provider. Guest-cards and lift passes also give you free use of the ski buses in Ischgl and ski buses to/from Galtür, Kappl and See. Some apartments and guesthouses also sell lift passes.

The Silvretta Pass, which sounds as though it covers just the Silvretta Arena (the alternative name for the Ischgl-Samnaun ski area) actually covers Ischgl, Samnaun, Galtür, Kappl and See. It’s about 15% to 20% more expensive than the VIP pass, and you don’t need a guest card to buy one.

There are discounts for seniors, juniors, accompanied children etc.

None of the ski passes cover the floodlit toboggan run from Idalp to Ischgl. You have to pay extra for that.
