Söll has luxury 4-star hotels, but if you wander its streets the signs you see most often are ‘Hotel Garni’, ‘Pension’, ‘Gästehaus’ and ‘Gasthof’. These establishments may be small but their standards are high, and they are usually run by families who give them a personal touch.

Of the 4-star category hotels in Soll, Hotel Greil categorises itself as a wine and gourmet hotel and is highly recommended; the centrally situated 700-year-old Hotel Postwirt has an outdoor heated pool and an indoor spa and claims to make “every guest feel like a king” – and its average rating by previous guests shows it’s been pretty successful at achieving this. Hotel Alpenschlössl is a luxurious 4-star hotel with lavish facilities including two restaurants serving traditional Austrian cuisine and international dishes, a bar and wellness facilities including indoor and outdoor swimming pools. Situated in a quiet hillside location overlooking Soll with lovely views, it offers a free shuttle bus service twice each morning and evening to ferry guests to and from the lifts, a 10-minute bus ride away. In contrast, the Hotel Feldwebel is in the pedestrianised centre of the resort. It’s named after a Bavarian sergeant-major or “Feldwebel”, who ran an inn here during the time of Napoleon but parts of the building date back much longer than this. For sheer convenience, however, nothing beats the Hotel and Restaurant Hexenalm in Hochsoll – it’s next door to the ski lift.
Of the many 3-star hotels, Hotel Garni Tenne has a small spa area and is located in the centre of the resort, about 350m from the ski lift with a ski-bus stop next to it. Hotel Austria is also in the centre, about 500m from the Hohe Salve Cable Car with a ski bus stop less than 100m away and has a popular bar. And for some affordable pampering, the 3-star Aperhoff on the hill overlooking the town takes some beating because guests have access to the 4-star AlpenSchlössl spa area and swimming pools, which are just 50 yards away.
The family-run Genusslandhotel Hochfilzer and the Franzlhof don’t have any official stars, but their average rating by previous guests is ‘superb’ so they must be doing something right. The Edinger Gastehaus and Gasthof Christophorus are only slightly less well-rated and are closer to the ski lifts. In good snow conditions, you can ski to the door of Gasthof Kaiserblick which is in the suburb of Itter on the western edge of the resort

If you want an Apart Hotel, the 4-star Aparthotel Bergland is in a superb location opposite the ski school meeting place, and a 2-minute walk from the gondola and an easy 5-minute walk to the centre of Söll.
