Ski Hire Shops in Aletsch Arena
Each of the three villages on the Aletsch Arena plateau—Riederalp, Bettmeralp, and Fiescheralp—offers guests a choice of two ski rental shops. All shops offer a wide selection of winter sports equipment, clothing, and accessories for sale and rental. Additionally, there is a large Volken Sports shop and cafe at the public transportation hub in Fiesch.
Equipment available for hire includes snowshoes and sledges, and families with toddlers in strollers (pushchairs) can rent snowblades, making pushing young children around the snowy villages much easier.
Ski Hire Shops in Riederalp
Aletsch Sport Riederalp
Aletsch Sport has two shops in Riederalp. Their leading shop, Aletsch Sport Mitte, is in the village centre, next to the Riederalp Bahnen gondola top station. The newer shop, Aletsch Sport West, is next to the Hohfluh chairlift.

Both shops offer a good selection of skis, ski boots, helmets, and accessories from leading brands for sale and rental. They also provide ski servicing using the latest high-tech Montana Saphir machine. The main shop also has a large, heated ski depot.
Rental equipment includes affordable ski and snowboarding packages for children up to 7 years old and juniors from 8 to 16 years old, as well as adult skis and snowboards for all abilities, from beginner to expert. Freeride, freestyle, telemark, touring skis (with skins), cross-country skis, snow shoes, sledges, and wheel blades for strollers are also available for rental.
Bookings online (via the Sport 2000 ski rental platform) receive a 10% discount. Although most of the Aletsch Sport website’s content is in German, the Sport 2000 booking engine offers several language options.
The stores’ opening hours are 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday. You can collect your equipment from 4 p.m. the day before the rental period begins.

Intersport Burcher Alpin, Riederalp
The Burcher family’s sports shop is part of the Swiss Intersport network and offers a good selection of snow sports equipment for sale and rental. It is about 150 meters from the Moosfluh lift station in Riederalp Ost.

Rental packages include Exclusive, Premium, and Economy skis and snowboards for adults and affordable packages for children up to 7 and 8 to 15 years of age for as little as half a day to seven days or longer. Ski clothing, cross-country skis, snowshoes, and sledges are available for hire. Online bookings made more than 24 hours in advance receive a 10% discount.
They also offer ski and snowboard servicing, including service packages which allow you to test the latest equipment while your skis or snowboard are serviced.

The family-owned Mattig Sport Bettmeralp has been in business for over 60 years. It offers a great selection of premium snow sports equipment, clothing, and accessories from over 30 leading brands, including Head, Nordica, Salomon, Stockli, and Volkl.

Their shop in the centre of the Bettmeralp is about a 600 m (10-minute) walk from the cable car station and offers first-class service and comprehensive advice. You can rent and test the latest snow sports equipment, including helmets and back-protectors, at their store in the centre of Betteralp or pre-book online. If you book online, your ski rental equipment will be ready for collection from 4 pm the day before your rental period begins.
Rental skis include premium brands such as Stockli, Rossignol, Van Deer, and Volkl skis for adults, Stockli skis for children up to 8 years, 9-15 years, and Junior VP up to 15 years. Snowboards for adults and kids, and touring skis (with skins) are also available for rental. Likewise, ski boots, helmets, snowshoes, sledges, and wheel blades for strollers can all be pre-booked online.

Derby Sport is located on the main street in the heart of the village, about a 10-minute walk from the cable car station. A family-owned business for almost 50 years, and part of the Intersport group, it offers a wide range of equipment, clothing, and accessories from over 50 leading brands.

Derby Sport is a member of the Swiss Intersport group of rental shops; hence, you can book ski rental online via the Intersport platform or directly at Derby Sport for a 10% discount. The Burgener Sport Rental Centre is directly on the slopes—just 50 m from Fiescheralp’s mountain station, between restaurants and après-ski, and right next to the ski school. It offers a wide range of winter sports equipment for sale and rental.

Family-friendly ski rental packages include complimentary helmets for children. Rental customers can change their ski and snowboard equipment to a different model. Free overnight storage is available, and rental equipment can be collected from 3 pm the day before the rental period begins.

It is part of the Swiss Intersport network, so you can reserve your equipment for skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing online via the Intersport platform and pick it up from our store directly at the valley station or the Volken Sport Rentstation in the ski area at Fiescheralp.
Rental periods are as flexible as your lift ticket. You can rent for the day, weekend, vacation, or ski season. Rental skis are perfectly tuned and waxed state-of-the-art machinery, and overnight ski, snowboard, and cross-country ski servicing is available. You can also test and hire the latest ski and snowboard models for the current winter season.
The main Volken Sport store in Fiesch is conveniently located in the Public Transportation Hub, which also houses the train station and the valley lift station, and Volken Rentstation, just 230 m (a 4-minute walk) from the gondola station in Fiescheralp.
