Stubaital has a surprisingly good choice of hotel accommodation with over 200 hotels, bed & breaksfast guesthouses and apartments, providing nearly 20,000 beds in total, to choose from including one 5-star hotel, over 30 luxurious 4-star hotels and a similar number of 3-star hotels.
The accommodation in Stubaital includes 14,000 hotel beds and nearly another 5,000 beds in apartments and B&Bs. The range of hotels includes one 5-star hotel – the Jagdhof in Neustift, two 4-star superior hotels, thirty-two 4-stars, two 3-star superiors, and twenty-eight 3-star hotels. And to an extent it doesn’t really matter where you stay: with excellent parking facilities at the hotels and at the ski lifts and the valley bus service, all of these free with the Stubai Superskipass, the choice to be in one of the villages or outlying is less important than it might be in more typical ski resorts.
Neustift and its immediate outlying hamlet of Milders offer the most accommodation possibilities in the Stubai with many four-star hotels complete with wellness centers and top quality restaurants.
The Jagdhof, a truly sumptuous five-star property presented in traditional high Tyrolean style, which won the 2005 Spa of the Year from Relais & Chateaux. The wine cellar here is stocked to the gunwhales with top clarets and Burgundies, not to mention some of the best that Austria of course itself has to offer. At the luxury end of the market the Alpenhotel Kindl stands out.
In more modern 4-star style you have the superbly designed Sporthotel and the Alpeiner Nature Resort. As more edge has come into Tyrolean hotel design, Neustift certainly hasn’t got left behind.
Also the superbly comfortable Schonherr Haus, Hotel Forster and Vitalhotel Edelweiss are all excellent examples of the breadth of the 4-star offering here.
The three-star Hotel Christoph is outside Neustift proper with some spacious rooms, sauna and simple fare. Also with 3-stars and really cosy and lovely is the Hotel Angelika. And with a very clean take on Tyrolean style and deservedly gaining a 3-star superior rating is the Hotel Erika. Helga and Stefan Schöpf also provide traditional Tyrolean homeliness at the 3-star Hotel Augarten, centrally located in Neustift.
If you want to be nearest to the glacier ski area, located near the foot of the gondola, the Happy Stubai and Alpenhof are the closest options. Also the on-mountain Dresdnerhutte, an atmospheric 100 year old mountain hut with 140 dormitory beds and five-star views – not to mention first tracks in the morning. Also nearby here in Volderau
The tiny village of Gsteig has around two dozen hotels and pensions. At Kruessbach there’s a tiny draglift for kiddies, and 10 or so assorted hotels and pensions.
Staying in Fulpmes is particularly convenient for skiing Schlick 2000 and the 4-star Hotel Waldhof here is a most comfortable modern hotel rendered in traditional Tyrolean fashion.
