Seefeld Ski Schools

Seefeld takes pride in the quality of its native skiers and ski school. Founded by Wilhelm Völck in 1921, Seefeld Ski School’s best known was the late Toni Seelos, a four times world champion in the 1930s and a pioneer of the parallel turn who was the head of Seefeld Ski School until 1981 and largely responsible for making Seefeld.

Nowadays a team of up to 120 ski instructors led by Erwin Seelos offers group ski lessons for adults and children and several disciplines including Alpine skiing, snowboarding, carving, telemark and cross-country skiing. Most instructors come from Seefeld or nearby and speak good English but the ski school also employs instructors from Great Britain, Netherlands, France, Italy, Russia and Bulgaria.

Golfers should be sure to ask for Ullrich Strauss, a ski instructor by winter, but caddymaster of the world-renowned championship golf course in the summer months, for great stories about some of the region’s celebrity guests.

Cross-Country Ski Schools in Seefeld

Seefeld also has an excellent cross-country skiing academy (Xcess) run by Martin Tauber who represented Austria in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. The academy is based by the Seefeld Congress Centre (Kongresszentrum) with a view of the Seekirchl and the start of the main langlauf trail out of Seefeld. Sport Aktiv offers ski coaching, cross country, snowboard and kids’ tuition in Seefeld and Reith under the direction of Thomas Knuchel.
