Ski School

La Plagne is an excellent resort for beginners to learn to ski in but there are also ski schools and private instructors for intermediate and advanced skiers who want to improve, and off-piste mountain guides for those who want to explore Paradiski’s extensive freeriding terrain including the famous north-face of Bellecote. ESF arrange good value guided off-piste expeditions that individuals can join, and special half-day introductions to off-piste skiing and ski-touring for skiers and boarders who have previously stuck to the pistes.

La Plagne Ski Schools and Mountain Guides

Ecole du Ski Francais (ESF)

There is an ESF school near each of La Plagne’s villages (including the outlying ones like Montalbert, Montchavin-Les Coches and Champagny en Vanoise). ESF group lessons were criticised for large class sizes, poor English-language skills and an overly dogmatic ‘one size fits all’ approach, but ESF has responded and become more flexible and user-friendly with more English-speaking instructors. As well as the classic week-long half-day ski-school courses for novices, they now have ‘one-off’ lessons and short courses for intermediate skiers who have not had a lesson in years and want a quick refresh, private instruction and half-day introductions to off-piste skiing and ski touring. The ESF offices also provide mountain guides and regularly organise off-piste groups that individuals can join on a pay-per-person basis which are excellent value for money. The one-day group expeditions for experienced off-piste skiers run by ESF Montalbert are particularly recommended. Further information about ESF La Plagne >>>
