Accommodation in Private: Aletsch Arena

Wherever you stay in the Aletsch Arena, you’ll enjoy ski-in/ski-out access, a relaxed, car-free atmosphere, and some of the most spectacular views in the Alps.

Where to Stay in the Aletsch Arena

Riederalp – Calm, Sunny and Family-Friendly

Best for young families and beginners; peaceful and scenic. Riederalp is the westernmost of the three villages and is particularly popular with families and beginners.

Its gentle slopes, ski-in/ski-out accommodation, and laid-back atmosphere make it ideal for younger children and novice skiers. The village offers easy access to the Moosfluh viewpoint, one of the best spots to gaze across the Aletsch Glacier, and several well-rated ski schools and dedicated children’s zones are close to the lifts. Non-skiers can enjoy winter walking trails or take the short cable car ride down to Mörel for spa visits or shopping in the valley.

Bettmeralp – Central, Lively and Well-Balanced

A great all-rounder with central access, varied terrain, and more après-ski, Bettmeralp sits in the middle of the ski area and is the largest and liveliest of the three villages.

It offers the most varied accommodation options—from charming chalets to ski-in/ski-out hotels—and a vibrant village centre with shops, cafés, après-ski bars, and restaurants. It’s also home to a beautiful alpine church and scenic lake (frozen in winter), adding a fairytale feel to the surroundings. Bettmeralp offers excellent ski schools and nursery slopes for families in the village. Intermediate skiers will find it the most convenient base, with access to the wide blues and reds that crisscross the area. There’s even something for experts: the north-facing runs beneath Bettmerhorn and the connection to steeper slopes near Fiescheralp are easily accessed. Snowshoeing, tobogganing, and a well-maintained network of winter hiking paths make it a good choice for non-skiers.

Fiescheralp – Quiet, High and Best for Experienced Skiers

Fiescheralp is the smallest and highest of the three villages. At 2,212 metres, it offers high-altitude views and more ski terrain for advanced skiers.

The smallest and quietest of the resorts, it appeals strongly to confident skiers. While it has fewer bars, restaurants and shops,  the Hotel Alpina in Fiescheralp claims to be the No. 1 après-ski location in the Aletsch Arena. From Fiescheralp, you’re well-positioned to access the more challenging red and black runs of the Eggishorn sector, including off-piste terrain and breathtaking views of the glacier and surrounding 4,000-metre peaks. Families and beginners are still welcome here, but the terrain is slightly less forgiving, and the village caters more toward alpine purists and those seeking tranquillity and altitude. Non-skiers can enjoy clear air, panoramic hikes, and peaceful accommodation options.

Fiesch – Convenient and Budget-Friendly Valley Base

If you cannot find available accommodation in the ski area or prefer to stay lower down in the valley, the village of Fiesch is a good-value alternative. It’s connected to Fiescheralp via a high-speed gondola.

The lift, railway, and bus stations combine as one fully integrated Public Transportation Hub, just a 5-10 minute walk from the village. Fiesch offers affordable accommodation and amenities like supermarkets and restaurants, making it a practical option for those who want to combine skiing with convenience and cost savings.
