The Great Aletsch Glacier

The longest, deepest and widest glacier in the Alps, the Aletsch Glacier is over 20km long with a maximum depth of 800m and up to 3km wide in its upper section. A UNESCO World Heritage site flowing through the heart of the Aletsch Arena, this icy giant contains an estimated 10 billion tonnes of ice. But climate change is taking its toll.
