St Johann in Tirol
St Johann has a large number of hotels relative to its small size, with a good spread of options both at the foot of the slopes and in the centre of town. The majority of hotels are in the 3-star bracket, though there are a number of B&Bs as well as a handful of 4-star-rated hotels from which guests can choose.
Whether you are looking for value or luxury, one of the benefits of staying in St Johann is the price. Neighbouring Kitzbuhel is renowned as a high class destination, but that does come at a cost. St Johann offers skiers wishing to stay in the region a more affordable alternative without sacrificing the traditional Austrian experience.
Most of St Johann’s hotels are located near the centre of town, including the popular Hotel Fischer and a number of more discreet hotels and guest houses such as the Hotel Tyrol. These guests houses line the streets leading into the centre of town and help to retain St Johann’s authentic character, although many have an appealing contemporary design.
There are also a number of popular options near the Harschbichl gondola base station. The 4-star Sporthotel Austria is situated 150m from the gondola entrance while the Hotel Gasthof zue Schönen Aussicht is one of St Johann’s largest hotels and is situated right by the side of the piste.
Alternatively, skiers can stay near the bottom of the Eichenhof t-bar lift. This offers a quieter experience for guests, with the centre of town a 30 minute walk away, although there are some characterful guest houses including the self-catering Martinshof Apartments.
