Hoch-Ybrig is principally a day-trip destination for visitors from Zurich and the surrounding cantons. However, it works well as a short-stay base for those seeking a quieter alternative to better-known resorts, and it is easily combined with the nearby resorts of Flumserberg and Pizol (Bad Ragaz), with Engelberg also within easy reach.

Hoch-Ybrig ski area suits a broad range of abilities. A dedicated children’s area (Kinderland) at the Roggen lift provides a safe, gentle environment for beginners and young learners, while six red and two black runs offer intermediate and advanced skiers enough for 1-2 days.

Although Hoch-Ybrig is not primarily a freeride destination, there are good freeriding opportunities on and around the upper mountain. Also, the NBC Snowpark, located at the Hesisbol six-seat chairlift, is recognised as one of the best freestyle parks in Central Switzerland, and an Audi Skicross Park at the Sternen chairlift adds a dedicated course for Skicross enthusiasts.

Snow reliability is generally good. The resort sits high enough to benefit from regular natural snowfall across a season that typically runs from late November to mid-April, and snowmaking infrastructure supports lower pistes when conditions require it.

The ski lift system has been substantially upgraded in recent seasons, most notably with the installation of a new 3S-Bahn (three-rope detachable gondola) at Weglosen, which replaced the old feeder railway and provides faster, more comfortable access to the mountain.

The Swiss Ski and Snowboard School Hoch Ybrig is well-regarded, and in addition to a well-established ski hire shop in  each of the villages of Oberiberg and Unteriberg, Stöckli runs two ski rental and test centres on the mountain.

Accommodation options include a few hotels, notably the Roggenstock Lodge in Oberiberg, and with modest self-catering apartments providing the majority of guest beds in the region, though the range is more limited than at larger Swiss resorts. Also a couple of hotels catering primarily for groups and clubs.

The villages of Unteriberg and Oberiberg are small, primarily residential and functional, and with so many guests coming only for the weekend or just a day, the après-ski scene is very limited and quiet at night.

Beyond skiing, the resort offers an extensive programme of winter activities, including cross-country skiing on 17km of trails, tobogganing, snowshoeing, paragliding, ice fishing, and Ziesel electric snow vehicle tours.

Zurich Airport (ZRH) is the obvious gateway for international visitors, and getting to Hoch-Ybrig from Zurich Airport by car takes between 60 and 75 minutes, depending on road conditions, or around two hours by rail to Einsiedeln, followed by a short bus ride or a taxi to the resort.
