Ski Lifts in Hoch-Ybrig

Hoch-Ybrig operates 13 ski lifts serving 50 km of pistes, with a combined uphill capacity of 18,354 persons per hour. This includes the high-speed 3S Weglossen-Seebli gondola, five chairlifts, and three surface lifts, providing efficient uplift across the resort’s main ski area, as well as four surface lifts serving local ski slopes at Oberiberg and Iberiberg. 

Hoch-Ybrig Ski Lifts

Access to the ski area is by gondola from Weglossen or chairlift from Lauchern with local bus connections between the nearby villages of Unteriberg and Oberiberg and the lift stations, as well as from the train station at Einsiedeln; free for lift pass holders.

Lift Capacity 18,354 riders per hour

Although there are 13 lifts in total, most of the uplift is provided by the gondola and five chairlifts, which distribute skiers efficiently across the ski area. Four of seven surface lifts, serving beginner ski slopes at Oberiberg and Iberiberg, stand apart from the main ski area.

Lifts operate from 08:30 to 16:30 daily throughout the ski season.

Gondolas

Hoch-Ybrig’s headline investment is the technologically advanced TRI-Line 3Sbahn gondola with 20-person cabins, internal ski racks and panoramic windows, which opened in 2025. It replaces the old Luftseilbahn Weglosen-Seebli cable car and runs 1.7km from the valley station at Weglossen (1,035m) up to Seebli at 1,465m, in approximately five minutes. Capacity currently stands at 1,600 persons per hour and is technically capable of scaling up to 8,000. The gondola runs on Doppelmayr Connect control technology and is AURO-compatible, meaning it can operate autonomously without station staff when required.

Chairlifts

Beyond the 3S gondola, the lift network includes the 6-seat chairlift to Hesisbol (1831m), 4-seat chairlifts to Sternen (1811m), Spirstock (1771m), Laucherenstöckli (1752m), and the 4-seat chairlift from the valley station Laucheren (1092m) to Steinboden (1483m). The chairlifts are effective, but without bubble covers for protection in bad weather.

Surface Lifts

Hoch-Ybrig’s commitment to beginner and family progression includes three separate learner areas. Seven beginner-friendly surface lifts include a dedicated lift at Kinderland Kabi-Park, Kinderland Seebli and Kinderland Oberiberg, a drag lift at Fuederegg, and lifts serving short slopes at Oberiberg and Iberiberg.

Hoch-Ybrig lift passes represent good value for a Swiss resort of this quality, with a tiered pricing structure covering day passes, multi-day options, and season passes.

Families benefit from a reduced adult day rate (approximately 15% less than the standard rate). Students (17-25) and Seniors (60+) with a valid photo ID receive a 10% discount, and children (6-16) receive approximately a 40% discount.

Other incentives include a “Birthday Perk”, which allows skiers and boarders to claim a free day pass on their birthday, with a valid ID required at the ticket office.

Snow Record & Snowmaking

Hoch-Ybrig ski area is a north-, north-east-, and north-west-facing bowl with primarily treeless slopes that hold fresh powder away from the prevailing winds and maintain good snow conditions, even late into the season. The altitude range of 1,050m to 1,820m is low, but with a reasonably good natural snow record, and the upper mountain typically holds reliable snow cover from late November through to mid-April.
