Davos Accommodation

Davos is a town with outlying suburbs and hamlets, and Klosters is a mid-sized ski village famous for its chalets, so together they have accommodation to suit all budgets and tastes, with over 19,000 beds in more than 80 hotels and guesthouses, numerous chalets, several youth hostels and hundreds of apartments.

Davos Hotels and Apartments

Given that this is a resort that is visited every year by the world’s most powerful and richest men and women for the World Economic Forum, it’s not surprising that Davos has some extremely good 5 star hotels. The Steigenberger Grand Hotel Belvedere is aptly named because it is a rather grand hotel in the centre of town that first opened in the 19th century, although there is nothing dated about its excellent wellness centre. Keen skiers however might prefer the location of the 5 star Rixos Flüela Davos because it’s within a very short walk of both the Parsennbahn Cable Car and the railway station (trains form part of the lift system in Davos Klosters), or the venerable Hotel Seehoff which is nearby but actually borders the piste so in good snow conditions you can ski to the door. If fresh air, scenic views and rural tranquility are your priority , the Inter-Continental Davos is the obvious 5 star choice. Situated on a hillside outside the town,  it provides free shuttles to take guests to the ski lifts and the centre of town whenever they require. Needless to say all these 5 star hotels have swimming pools, saunas, gourmet restaurants and all the other luxuries you would expect from a 5-star hotel.

The prize for the most spectacularly sited hotel in Davos however goes to the ski-in, ski-out Schatzalp Davos.  This is sometimes graded as a 4-star and sometimes as a ‘3-star superior’ hotel but there is no questioning its location which is 300m above Davos and reachable only via its own funicular. It has its own small private ski area as well as access to the public pistes. It was written about in the novel “The Magic Mountain” by Thomas Mann and is surrounded by beautiful botanical gardens with 3,500 different species of alpine plants.

Other notable hotels include:

Hotel Grischa Davos (4-star): Conveniently located opposite Davos-Platz railway station and close to the Jakobshorn cable car, the stylish Hotel Grischa is among the best hotels in town.

Turmhotel Victoria (4 stars) : very close to the Parsenn cable car and within walking distance of Davos Dorf train station, it includes a spa area and 2 restaurants.

Waldhotel Davos (4-star ): situated above the town between Davos Dorf and Davos Platz, it has wonderful views.

Morosani Posthotel Davos (4-star): The Morosani Posthotel has lots of character with art, culture, cuisine, relaxation and entertainment. Located in Davos Platz about 300m from the train station and 500m from the Bolgen ski lift.

Chalet Hotel Larix Davos (3-star): The Larix Hotel is located near the centre of Davos and is just seven minutes from the slopes.

Parsenn Sporthotel Davos-Dorf(3 star): Attractive, traditional and cosy, the 3-star Parsenn Sporthotel is conveniently located opposite the Parsenn ski lift and close to the train station.

Hotel Alte Post (2 sar) : 200m from the Jakobshorn lift and Davos Platz train station and very highly rated by previous guests.

Hotel Frieden (not graded but similar to a good 2-star): About 5 mins walk from Davos Platz Train Station and the Jakobshorn Cable Car, it also has a bus stop close by, ensuring quick access to the Davos Dorf lifts as well.

B&B Alter Hof:  100 yards from the Jakobshorn Ski Lift and reachable on skis in good snow conditions, this is a good but basic Bed & Breakfast where most rooms share bathrooms.
