There is no base village or ski in, ski out lodging at Whiteface. The best accommodations are nearby in the village of Lake Placid, which offers everything from motor lodges to motels to five star hotels.
For a resort with such world renowned skiing, Whiteface has one obvious drawback. Because it is owned and operated by the State of New York and located entirely on land the state has designated “Forever Wild” in its constitution, there is no on-mountain lodging. The nearest lodging is in the village of Lake Placid, some 10-15 minutes away by car.
