The choice of accommodation in Whistler includes a good selection of hotels, up to the 5-star level of the Fairmount Chateau Whistler and the Four Seasons Blackcomb, self-catering suites and condos, two- and three-bedroom townhouses, and bed & breakfast accommodation.
Hotels & Other Accommodation in Whistler
Whistler offers a wide range of accommodations at an equally wide range of prices. With over 115 hotels and condominiums providing over 5,400 rooms, finding accommodation in Whistler is generally not a problem. The choice includes an excellent selection of hotels to self-catering suites and condos to bed and breakfasts and numerous two and three-bedroom townhouses.
Some hotels are large and expensive, such as the Westin Resort & Spa at the foot of Whistler Mountain, and the Fairmont Chateau Whistler over at Blackcomb, but there are cheaper well-situated hotels like Crystal Lodge and Listel Whistler Hotel, as well as smaller alternatives like the charming Chalet Louise in Village North and Nita Lake Lodge “boutique hotel” in Whistler Creekside.
Unfortunately due to the geography of the area and high amount of residential development there is a lack of true ski-in ski-out accommodation in Whistler. Only Cedar Creek, Painted Cliff and the Marriott Residence Inn allow you to ski straight to your back door from the Magic Chair on Blackcomb. “Slope side” properties are defined as those with less than a five-minute walk to the lifts or ski areas, but there are many more options if you wish to stay outside the village.
For those on a budget and wanting to self cater, the standard of accommodations is still very high and a one-bedroom den unit will sleep three, but those seeking higher levels of luxury will find plenty of opportunity to splash out. If you are booking a townhouse or chalet, you may have to commute to the ski lifts and the Village by bus. If so, be sure to store your ski equipment overnight at the storage facilities in the base lodges.
For backpackers there are a few options for dormitory style accommodation. The cheapest is the Whistler HI, located right on Alta Lake. Unfortunately it’s quite remote from the village and is serviced by only four buses per day. The Southside Lodge in Creekside is convenient and gets great reviews. The noisy UBC Lodge has limited privacy and is frequented by school groups.
Most of the hotel accommodations are in Whistler Village and that is where you should stay if you want to be nearest to the main shopping area and the nightlife.
