Courmayeur offers a wide range of accommodation with many good hotels and some well located apartments in the centre of town. Accommodation is also available in the neighbouring hamlets of Dolonne, Entreves and La Palud which can gave quicker access to the lifts.
If you are staying in Courmayeur and want to be within walking distance of the lifts, it’s worth remembering where they are.
The Courmayeur Cable Car, the resort’s main lift, departs from the southern end of the resort, in between the centre and the suburb of Verrand. The lift ascends to Plan Checrouit, which is a focal point in the ski domain. It’s the principal Ski School meeting point and there are also ski rental shops here, so you don’t have to bring your skis up and down on the cable car. There are restaurants and bars at Plan Checrouit and one ski-in, ski-out hotel, Super G.
There is also a smaller bubble lift, the Telecabina Dolonne, which also goes up to Plan Checrouit. It’s base is the outlying suburb of Dolonne on the resort’s western edge. Courmayeur is not really a ski-in, ski-out resort, but some of the accommodation here can be reached on skis in good snow conditions.
Thirdly there is the separate hamlet of Entreves. On its south-western edge is the Val Veny cable car which gives access to the Pre de Pascal sector of the main ski area. Half a kilometre away, on its north eastern edge and close to the neighbouring hamlet of La Palud, is the Monte Bianco Skyway which accesses the separate off-piste skiing at Punta Helbronner.
Lastly, it’s worth stressing that many hotels are between the centre and the north edge of Courmayeur which means they are in a pretty part of town, close to lots of nice bars, restaurants and shops, but not particularly close to any of the lifts. Some of these hotels provide courtesy shuttle buses to take their guests to and from the lifts; others depend on the ski bus service which is reasonably efficient. Or skiers just walk to either the Dolonne bubble or the Courmayeur cable car – one of them is usually within 15 minutes walk – and there is no need to walk in ski boots or carry your skis because they can be left up the mountain.

Grand Hotel Courmayeur Mont Blanc (5-star) is slightly nearer the centre of the resort and further from the Courmayeur cable car. It has a ski bus that takes visitors to both this lift and Dolonne. It too has a spa, wellness and fitness centre but its swimming pool is inside.
The other 5-star, Le Massif, is close to the Courmayeur cable car (within 200m). It too has a spa but no swimming pool.
The 4 star Cresta et Duc offers excellent accommodation, food and service in central Courmayeur, about 250m from the cable car. Heading northwards, the 4-star Hotel Lo Scoiattolo is about 15 minutes’ walk from both the centre of town and the Dolonne lift. Not too far away is the exceptionally highly rated Villa Novecento Romantic Hotel , a 4-star boutique hotel with fitness centre. It’s not particularly close to the lifts so provides a shuttle to Dolonne, as does another 4-star, Gran Baita Hotel & Wellness which is even further out but it has a heated, half-indoor, half-outdoor, swimming pool.
Hotel Berthod is a good 3 star hotel in the centre of Courmayeur, about 10 minutes walk from the Courmayeur cable car and 15 minutes walk from the Dolonne bubble. Hotel Crampon (3 stars) and Hotel Cristallo (2 stars) are also similarly central. The 3 star, Hotel Bouton d’Or is on the north side of town but is highly rated and has a free shuttle bus to take guests to the Dolonne lift.
