Killington

As the largest and highest ski resort in the East drawing day visitors and weekenders from the big East Coast cities.

Killington has plenty of varied accommodations ranging from country inns to condos to Killington Grand Resort Hotel (the only on-mountain hotel) with its steaming outdoor pool, cocktail bars and restaurants. Most lodgings options-hotels, condos, vacation rentals, motels, B&Bs, and country inns-are situated a drive or shuttle bus-ride away from the slopes down the Killington Access Road or on Route 4.

Killington offers a large number of condos near Snowshed (Fallline, Whiffletree, High Ridge, and Pinnacle). All are a short shuttle ride from the lifts and have ski back trails. High Ridge is the nicest of the set and tops at out a superior 3-star quality. Also available for rent by the resort are condos near Sunrise Mountain, which are ski in ski out to Sunrise’s beginner terrain.

The many 19th century inns vary in price and not all accept young children. Red Clover Inn is an upmarket inn but does not accept children under 12, the Vermont Inn accepts children aged six and over, while children aged 14 and under stay free at the popular Cortina Inn. The inns offer day rates and packages including half-board options with gourmet dinners. The Inn of the Six Mountains and Mountain Meadows Lodge offer good accommodation in well-appointed condos and being larger than most inns they have better facilities for families and larger ski parties.

There area number of vacation rentals in and around Killington. Many of these private homes offer better access than the resort condos. If visiting Killington, a private home rental is often the best option.

There are around 18,000 beds within a 30-mile (50-km) radius of the resort. Guests can book through www.killington.com, or call the Central Reservations number at 800-621-MTNS. It’s open from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm. There are numerous 2-7 day packages available, together with ski lessons or more advanced ski clinics if required.
