St Gervais Accommodation
The nearby village of Saint Nicolas de Véroce has the smartest hotel in the immediate locality. St Gervais itself specialises in good value 3 star and 2 star hotels, and it also has plenty of self-catered apartments and chalets, making it a very affordable base for skiers.
The centre of St Gervais has accommodation of almost every type except expensive luxury hotels. Luckily neighbouring (and lift-linked) Megeve has plenty of them, but you don’t need to go even that far to find genuine 5 star luxury. The highly-rated Armancette Hôtel, Chalets & Spa offers genuine 5-star luxury just down the road in rural Saint Nicolas de Véroce, and is close to the Chef-Lieu lift, so has quick access to the ski area, if you can tear yourself away from its swimming pool, spa, sauna and restaurant. The hotel also has three ski-in, ski-out chalets which are one lift up the mountain at Plateau de la Croix.
In St Gervais itself, the accommodation is more modest, but there is a wide choice. The Coeur des Neiges (3 stars), La Ferme de Cupelein (3 stars, just outside the town), Hotel Val Joly (2 stars) and La Chaumiere are all highly regarded by previous guests. And if you can’t decide between a self-catered apartment or a hotel, there are several hybrid ApartHotels (sometimes called “Condo-Hotels”) which promise the best of both worlds. You can either stay up the mountain in Le Bettex (where there are chalets as well), or in the centre of town. Remember being near the centre is best if you want to use the rack-and-pinion railway to ski in the Les Houches ski area well as the Evasion Mont-Blanc ski area. If you have a car other nearby ski resorts that are not lift-linked, such as the rest of Chamonix, or Flaine or La Clusaz are also within day trip range.
