Kitzbuhel has a wide choice of accommodation from luxury hotels to simple guesthouses and self-catered apartments. The historic centre is bracketed by the Hahnenkammbahn to the South West and the Hornbahn to the North East, so one of these two lifts should be within 5 to 10 minutes walk. Or you can stay above the town and have beautiful views looking down on it.
Kitzbuhel Hotels and Guesthouses
The 5-star Tennerhof hotel is a famous Kitzbuhel institution – and for good reasons. Located in an historic estate (parts of it were an old barn but it has been beautifully and sumptuously converted) it is above the town on its eastern edge. It has views to die for, a gourmet restaurant, indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools and a large spa area. If conditions are right, you can walk to a nearby piste and ski down to the Hornbahn lift. Down in the picturesque centre of the town, the 5-star Hotel Weißes Rössl is within 400m of the Hahnenkamm lift and piste. and the bottom of the Hahnenkamm piste.
Highly rated 4-star hotels in the lovely centre of town include the traditional Goldener Grief , the colourful Zur Tenne , the Sporthotel Reisch (good mountain views) and the historic, family-run Hotel Tiefenbrunner – all are within 5 to 10 minutes walk of the Hahnenkammbahn and Hornbahn lifts. If that sounds too far for your liking, the Hotel Kaiserhof Kitzbühel is next door to the Hahnenkammbahn, whilst the Schweizerhof is on the edge of the piste so you can ski to the door. In a similarly lofty position, but on the Bichl Alm mountain just outside Kitzbuhel, are the 4-star Sport-Wellnesshotel Bichlhof and the even higher (and therefore a bit more isolated but with even better views) Rosis Sonnbergstuben. In good snow conditions they are both reachable on skis. On the other side of town, near its northern edge but within walking distance of the Hornbahn lift (and only a short bus ride or car journey from the Hahnenkamm) is the very pretty Art Nouveau style, family-run Hotel Erika. Needless to say, all these hotels have the usual 4-star creature comforts like spas and in-house gourmet restaurants and many have indoor swimming pools too.
There are lots of 3 star-hotels, so use the accommodation finder link at the bottom to search them all but currently the ones with the highest ratings from previous guests are Hotel Resch (within 150m of the Hahnenkamm’s Streif piste), Hotel Garni Entstrasser (which if further out but it has an indoor pool, and there is a ski-bus stop near the hotel) and the central Gasthof Eggerwirt which is within 5 minutes walk of the Hornbahn lift.
Good value budget hotels, guesthouses and bed & breakfasts abound in Kitzbuhel. A few examples include Haus Senoner (less than 10 minutes walk to the centre of Kitzbühel and the Hahnenkamm lift) Pension Hinterseer (located 300m above the Hahnenkamm cable car and close enough to the piste that you can sometimes ski to the door) Haus Friedl (about 15 minutes walk from the lifts or the town centre) and Pension Feiersinger (above the town and about 15 minutes to the Hahnenkamm Cable Car and Kitzbühel’s centre). Or for a different experience you can stay one lift up the mountain at either the Hocheckhuette which is near the top of the Hahnenkamm, or the Bichl Alm Inn, accessible only by the chairlift of the same name.
Kitzbuhel self-catering apartments
There are over 100 in and around Kitzbuhel, so use the accommodation finder link at the bottom, but some of the most consistently highly rated include Doris’ Nest, Villa Anna, Appartements Pöllhof and the Hornhaus.
