Accommodation

One of Bregenzerwald’s great strengths is the range of good quality hotels, from traditional to contemporary designer style interior and prices that are noticeable cheaper than comparable hotel accommodation in better known ski resorts. Warth-Schroecken is no exception.

The main village of Warth is situated at 1494m above sea level and is home to a handful of 4-star hotels and some more modest hotels, ‘Inns’ and private guesthouses offering bed & breakfast. There are also self-catered apartments and private rooms. Schroecken, 5 km before Warth and over 200m lower in altitude, is smaller and offers similar kinds of accommodation but with less choice. Warth is the more appealing of the two for keen skiers because there is a lift at the edge of the village and  a number of ski-in, ski-out hotels at the foot of the pistes further along the road. Schroecken currently has no lift (one has been planned for ages) so you have to take a skibus to the nearest lift station. You can ski back to the village, however, on two marked ski routes, if there is sufficient snow cover.

Warth Hotels, Guesthouses and Apartments

Hotel Steffisalp, Hotel Walserstube and Wellnesshotel Warther Hof are all excellent 4-star hotels that are highly rated by previous guests and located on the slopes, about a 5 minute walk from the centre of the village. The adults-only 4-star Berghotel Biberkopf also gets great reviews. It is a little further from the lift but in good snow conditions you can ski virtually to the front door. The 4-star Hotel Walserberg is located in the centre of Warth: in the morning it’s just a hundred metre walk to Dorfbahn lift on the outskirts of the village.

Hotel Adler is the most famous of the 3-star hotels. It’s located outside the village between the Jageralp Express and Saloberjet Express lift stations. You can usually ski back to the hotel or very close to it. There is also a ski bus stop just outside the hotel. Holzgauer House is a superior guest house with restaurant, bar, garden, and a sauna. It has good family rooms but you will need a car because it’s outside the village and away from the slopes.

Lech Valley Lodge probably has the most luxurious apartments in the village. They have access to an indoor pool and sauna.

Schroecken Hotels, Guesthouses and Apartments

In Schroecken you have a choice of three hotels, namely the 4-star Alpen-Erlebnishotel Widderstein (100 beds) at Nesslegg (just above the village) with swimming pool, whirlpool and fitness room, the 3-star Hotel Mohnenfluh (44 beds) also with swimming pool or the Gasthof Tannberg (40 beds), which is a comfortable 3-star hotel with steam room and sauna in the centre of Schrocken.

Berghaus Schröcken is a good ApartHotel/B&B in the village offering flexi-catering. Each apartment has a kitchen but there is also a restaurant that provides breakfast in the morning.
