Where to Stay in Schladming Dachstein?
Schladming
In Schladming itself, recommended 4-star hotels conveniently located near the Planai ski lift include Hotel Mitterhofer and Sporthotel Royer – both are about a 10-minute walk from the centre of Schladming. Or if you prefer to be close to the centre of Schladming, the 4-star Johann Schladming (formerly the Posthotel), in the main square, where “already in 1618 holidaymakers changed their horses and had a bite to eat” is still a popular haunt almost 400 years later and boasts the oldest guest lounge in the Dachstein Tauern region.
For 3-star hotel accommodation in Schladming, the Hotel Landauer, the Hotel Landgraf, and Hotel Starchlhof are well regarded.
Rohrmoos
The community of Rohrmoos, about 1 mile to the south, is in the heart of the 4-Hills Ski Area on a plateau directly above the town of Schladming and provides a bridge between the Planai and the Fageralm. Here you can find good-quality hotels, including the Rohrmooserhof, Hotel Schütterhof, Hotel Schwaigerhof, and Hotel Waldfrieden, situated on or right by the ski slopes of the popular Hochwurzen mountain.
Pichl
Pichl is about 4 miles along the valley to the west of Schladming and is the westernmost gateway to the 4-Hills Ski Area. The Reiteralm’s wide open slopes are used for training by the local ski elite and link into Ramsau’s network of cross-country trails, giving you the opportunity to combine downhill with cross-country skiing. The historic Hotel Pichlmayrgut is a popular 4-star hotel in Pichl.
Ramsau am Dachstein
To the north of Schladming is the densely forested Ramsau high plateau, some 18km long and 4km wide, at an elevation between 1,100 and 1,400 metres, which is popular for its hiking and Nordic walking trails, as well as rustic inns and huts for pit stops and lunch. Quality hotel options in Ramsau include the Hotel Berghof, Naturhotel Lärchenhof, Hotel Lindenhof, Hotel Pehab, and Landhaus Ramsau.
Haus im Ennstal
About 4 miles east of Schladming is the small town of Haus im Ennstal, and the Hauser Kaibling mountain, which is reached from the valley in Haus via the Schladminger Tauern cable car, and which is the easternmost part of the 4-Hills Ski Area. The Kirchen Wirt and the Herrschaftstaverne hotels are centrally situated in the village, just a short walk from the Schladminger-Tauern cable lift or a short bus ride to the Hauser-Kaibling ski lifts.
