Getting to Private: Hoch-Ybrig
One of Hoch-Ybrig’s attractions is its proximity to Zurich. Getting there from Zurich Airport or the city by road usually takes between 1 hour and 1 hour 15 minutes. and between 1 hour 45 minutes and 2 hours by rail and bus.
Hoch Ybrig sits in Canton Schwyz in Central Switzerland, tucked into the Ybrig valley above the town of Einsiedeln. The resort is served by two valley base stations: Weglosen in Unteriberg (the main access point for the TRI-Line cable car) and Laucheren in Oberiberg (for the upper mountain chairlift network). Hoch-Ybrig resort villages are well connected by regional bus services from the train stations at Einsiedeln or Biberbrugg, just 14-18km to Unteriberg and 18-22 km to Oberiberg, respectively.

Zurich Airport (ZRH)
Zurich is by far the most practical gateway to Hoch Ybrig for international visitors. At approximately 66km from the valley station in Unteriberg, it is one of the more accessible airport connections in Swiss skiing. Door-to-door driving time is typically around one hour to one hour and fifteen minutes, depending on conditions, and the route is straightforward for anyone familiar with Swiss motorways. The airport is served by a wide range of European and long-haul carriers, making it a convenient hub for visitors from the UK, Europe and beyond. Regular rail services from Zurich Airport into the city and onward to Einsiedeln are fast and frequent, and the airport has excellent car rental facilities for those driving to the resort. Bodensee Airport Friedrichshafen (FDH)
Friedrichshafen, just across the German border on the northern shore of Lake Constance, is a secondary option served by a small number of European airlines, including Ryanair. At approximately 189km and around two hours and fifteen minutes of driving, it is considerably further from Hoch Ybrig than Zurich. It is only worth considering if a suitable direct flight represents a significant saving. Airport Transfers to Hoch Ybrig
There is no dedicated ski resort transfer service operating to Hoch Ybrig comparable to those found at larger Alpine destinations. Private taxi transfers from Zurich Airport or Zurich city could be a practical option for small groups who prefer to transfer by car. For larger groups, a pre-booked minibus transfer will typically be the most cost-effective option. Journey time from the airport by private taxi transfer is approximately 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Getting to Hoch-Ybrig by Train & Bus
Hoch Ybrig is reachable by public transport via the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) network, though it requires a combination of train and bus and takes longer than driving. Total journey time by train and bus from Zurich city to the valley station is approximately one hour and forty-five minutes.
The most straightforward public transport route is to travel by train to Einsiedeln, which is served by direct connections from Zurich via Wädenswil on the S40 S-Bahn line. Journey time from Zurich city to Einsiedeln is approximately 50 minutes, with departures running roughly every 30 minutes throughout the day.

Swiss Travel Passes
If exploring multiple destinations, Travel Switzerland’s Swiss Travel Pass offers international visitors to Switzerland unlimited travel on consecutive days across the rail, bus and boat networks, plus scenic routes (seat reservation fees apply) and local trams and buses in around 90 towns and cities. It also includes the Swiss Museum Pass, which grants free entry to 500 museums and exhibitions. Swiss Travel Pass holders can use both the train to Einsiedeln and the connecting PostBus services included in their pass.
Bus Services from Einsiedeln to Hoch-Ybrig
From Einsiedeln station, two PostBus routes serve the resort. Bus Route 555 (the Laucherenbus) runs from Einsiedeln to Unteriberg and Oberiberg (Laucheren), serving the upper resort access point. Bus Route 556 (the Weglosenbus) runs from Einsiedeln to the Hoch-Ybrig Weglosen valley station at Unteriberg, which is the main TRI-Line cable car base. Both bus routes run during the ski season and connect with Einsiedeln’s train timetable.

Driving to Hoch Ybrig
Hoch Ybrig is well signposted from the region’s main arterial roads and is easy to reach by car.
From Zurich, take the A3 motorway southbound, then follow the signs towards Biberbrugg and Einsiedeln. At the Biberbrugg junction, take the road towards Einsiedeln and look for the bypass sign for “direction Ybrig,” which avoids the town centre and brings you directly towards Unteriberg. The valley station Weglosen in Unteriberg is well signed from this point.
Drivers arriving from the south, Lucerne, or the Gotthard corridor should head for Schwyz and then Einsiedeln via the cantonal road through Steinen, following signs for Unteriberg/Ybrig from Einsiedeln.
In wintry conditions, the approach roads from Einsiedeln into the Ybrig valley can be snow-covered and icy, and the use of winter tyres is strongly recommended. Snow chains may be required during periods of heavy snowfall.
Parking at Hoch Ybrig Lift Stations
Parking at Hoch Ybrig is free of charge for holders of a valid Hoch-Ybrig AG lift ticket. There are generous parking areas located directly at the Weglosen valley station in Unteriberg (the main TRI-Line cable car base) and at the Laucheren valley station in Oberiberg.
On peak days during the school holiday period, the Weglosen car park can fill early in the morning. Arriving before 09:00 is advisable on busy Saturdays and Sundays in February. Those who prefer to park in Oberiberg and access the Laucheren sector will generally find more space available throughout the day.
