Airport Transfers to Banff Lake Louise

The trip from Calgary to Banff takes one hour and 30 minutes on a 4-lane highway plus another 45 minutes from Banff to Lake Louise. Despite its railroad heritage there are, sadly, no passenger train services to Banff. Banff Airporter offer multiple scheduled departures daily from Calgary International Airport to both Banff and Lake Louise and if your plane is late and you miss your bus you will automatically get put on the next one. Coach style buses are spacious and clean with a plasma TV and free chilled bottled water.

Driving to Banff Lake Louise

Canadian skiers coming from Calagary (1½ hours), Edmonton (8 hours) and Victoria (12 hours) will often choose to drive to Banff Lake Louise. There’s mostly ample parking at Banff Lake Louise ski area base station, an efficient ski shuttle bus means there’s no real need for a car in resort except for travelling late at night between Banff and Lake Louise or Sunshine.

Local Bus Services in Banff Lake Louise 

All three Banff Lake Louise resorts are linked by municipal bus services and there are shuttle buses between hotels and each of the three ski areas. Banff Mount Norquay (formerly called Mystic Ridge) and Sunshine Village are just six miles (9 km) and 11 miles (17km) respectively from Banff, but from Banff to Lake Louise is 34 miles (55km) and a 45-minutes drive so take that into consideration each way if you are thinking of “commuting”.
