La Savoyarde is an utterly charming 3-star hotel in Val d’Isere ski resort. In the heart of Espace Killy, this aesthetically pleasing dark wood balconied and stone chalet is just a stone’s throw from Val d’Isere’s ski slopes. A few steps into the town centre as well as to the Olympique, Solaise Express and nursery lifts, La Savoyarde enjoys position ‘A’ in skiing holiday terms.

Somewhat of an institution here, La Savoyarde has been managed by owners Jean-Francois Marie and sister Dominique over the years. They themselves come from generations of hoteliers, so warm hospitality and service are in the blood, so to speak.

The interior is charming with intricate wood features and tiled flooring leading through to the lounge bar; here the impressive central fireplace with its exposed stone chimney breast combine with comfortable modern country house chairs and sofas to create a mood of stylish relaxation. Just perfect after a day on the slopes.

The rooms at La Savoyarde, following a recent refurbishment and upgrade, have wood panelling, well-chosen fabrics and plush carpets to make for authentic alpine comfort. Many of the rooms feature private balconies and seating space, looking out over the breathtaking mountain scenery. As well all rooms include private bathrooms, flat screen TVs and Wi-Fi access.

La Savoyarde’s restaurant has been rightly renowned over time as one of the best here in Val d’Isere. Its well established menu offers quite sophisticated French cuisine as well as regional dishes, all prepared to a very high standard indeed. A really excellent choice of wines is on offer as well from the large wine cave. After there is the option of evening drinks in the hotel bar and relaxing near the logfire, socialising over the day’s activities.

La Savoyarde boasts a Spa and Health Club featuring a Jacuzzi, hammam, sauna and fitness centre. Massages and beauty treatments are also available.

Star ratings for alpine hotels are often misleading. If the Savoyarde had a pool and perhaps slightly bigger rooms, it would waltz 4-stars. Thank goodness it is what it is and for those who know it and keep coming back, it is as nice as you could possibly want a hotel to be.
