It’s an easy, scenic journey by train from Geneva to Crans-Montana via Sierre, with direct trains running from Geneva Airport to Sierre (and on to Brig) approximately every 30 minutes.
It’s about 2 hours and 30 minutes to Sierre, then a five-minute Sierre Montana Crans shuttle bus or a 370m walk (follow the red line) to the funicular, which climbs from Sierre to Montana Gare in 12-20 minutes. From the railway station in Sierre, it’s a five-minute shuttle bus ride to the SMC Funicular, then a 12-20minute journey up the mountain by funicular to Montana Gare. Depending on where you’re staying in Montana, or up to two kilometres away in Crans, you’ll need a hotel pick-up or a taxi to meet you on arrival in Montana.
If you don’t want to take the funicular, you can take a bus (45 minutes) from Sierre, or order a taxi, but the funicular is much quicker and easier, with enjoyable views across the valley to Zinal.
Alternatively, if you’re flying to Bern, take the train to Visp, where you can catch a train to Sierre, then follow the directions above.
